Meet Janet Queen
Wheelchair bound, Janet Queen works at Hope’s Chest in Hugo. She’s used Little Dixie Transit for more than 25 years to get her to work, to doctors’ appointments, to pay bills and wherever else she needs to go. Without public transit, Janet would have to rely upon her wheelchair to travel the more than three miles to her job in all kinds of weather. “The only way I can get to and from places is to ride the bus,” Janet says.
Public transit is not a luxury for Janet’s hometown, she says it’s a necessity. “It’s not a privilege for this town because this is a poor town,” she says.” They need to get whatever funding they can get because they need it.”
