Meet Lena Sexton Maturino

Thanks to the Choctaw Nation Tribal Transit, Lena Sexton Maturino is alive. Diagnosed with cancer in 2016, Lena required twice-weekly chemotherapy treatments and she had to rely upon the transit service to get her to and from the treatments. “If I didn’t have transit, I probably wouldn’t be here today,” says Lena, who lives in Durant. “Transit made sure that I went to my chemo treatments.” Since losing her eyesight, Lena now also depends on transit to get her to doctor appointments at the Dean McGee Eye Institute in Oklahoma City. “They’ve been taking me back and forth,” she says.
